Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive scoring run on Friday, finding the net as Galatasaray thrashed Konyaspor 4-0 away from home in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 12th minute at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, rising to head home a cross from Gabriel Sara and give the visitors an early lead.
Galatasaray extended their advantage in a dominant first-half display. Yunus Akgün made it 2-0 in the 28th minute before Sara scored the third three minutes later to put the Turkish champions firmly in control.
The visitors maintained their attacking momentum after the break, with Aleksey Batrakov increasing the lead in the 49th minute. Rafael Leão then converted a penalty in the 55th minute to complete the 4-0 victory.
The win came just days after Galatasaray defeated Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe 2-1 in Monday’s derby, with Osimhen scoring both goals to secure bragging rights for his side.
The Nigerian forward’s latest strike took his league tally to nine goals this season, having entered Friday’s encounter with eight.
Against Fenerbahçe, Osimhen opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a finish after combining with Barış Alper Yılmaz. He doubled Galatasaray’s lead in the 44th minute with a header following a rebound from Davinson Sánchez’s effort.
Although İrfan Can Kahveci pulled one back for Fenerbahçe in the 62nd minute, Galatasaray held on to claim the derby victory.
Friday’s result further strengthened Galatasaray’s position at the top of the league table. They had entered the fixture with 22 points from nine matches and continued their winning run with another convincing performance.
Osimhen’s consecutive influential displays will provide a further boost to Galatasaray as they seek to maintain their advantage in the Turkish title race.
