Osimhen sends new Chelsea message with brace against Kayserispor

Super Eagles ace Victor Osimhen sent a clear message to Chelsea with his outstanding performance, scoring a brace in the Turkish Super Liga match against Kayserispor on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker, currently on loan in Turkey, had been in talks with Chelsea during the summer transfer window as Enzo Maresca sought alternative forward options to challenge Nicolas Jackson. Napoli proved to be difficult negotiators, and on deadline day, it seemed Osimhen would move to Saudi Arabia as the Serie A club aimed to secure the highest possible fee.

However, the 25-year-old turned down the move to the Middle East, and it ultimately became too late for a transfer to Stamford Bridge. As the transfer window closed across much of Europe, it looked like Osimhen would be relegated to the reserves with Antonio Conte unwilling to reintegrate him into the first team.

Fortunately, Galatasaray came to his rescue, as their transfer window in Turkey remained open longer. Osimhen agreed to a loan move for the remainder of the season, with the condition that Napoli’s asking price would be reduced to £62 million. Should an unnamed club match this price in January, he would be able to terminate his loan early to pursue a deal elsewhere.

Despite these challenges, Osimhen has thrived in Turkey, scoring ten goals in 14 appearances for Galatasaray. Chelsea is believed to be one of the ten clubs that could be interested in him, especially given Arsenal’s need for a centre-forward.
