… Eyes Turkish Super Lig title, not transfer
Victor Osimhen fired his 16th goal in the Turkish Super Lig for Galatasaray to draw 3-3 with Istanbul rival, Kasimpasa yesterday.
The Super Eagles striker opened scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after he was fouled by the Kasimpasa goalkeeper on his way to goal.
He scored his brace in the 71st minute when he allowed a long ball by the Galatasaray goalkeeper to beat his marker and he coolly slotted past the onrushing Kasimpasa shot stopper.
What could have been his hat-trick and the match winner for Galatasaray late on was chalked off for offside.
It was also 3-3 when both teams clashed in the reverse tie last year.
Galatasaray remains top of the standings with 65 points from 25 matches.
Meanwhile, Osimhen has set his sights on helping Galatasaray to a 25th Turkish Super Lig title and could care less about the transfer news making the round about him.
The Nigerian star has attracted interest from major European clubs, particularly Premier League giants Manchester United, and Arsenal who are among the teams vying for his signature.
Italian club Napoli, who holds Osimhen’s transfer rights, is eager to sell the striker before the season concludes and is reportedly pressuring his agent to facilitate this.
However, Osimhen has relayed his intentions to his agent regarding the ongoing transfer speculation.
The 26-year-old player told Sabah, “I will not meet with anyone before the season ends. I am not thinking about the transfer; my mind is on Galatasaray winning the Turkish Super Lig title.
“We are aiming for our 25th title and the 5th star to be added to our badge. Achieving this championship would be incredibly special for me. I am completely focused on this goal.”
