Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has stepped up his recovery from injury after returning to partial team training with Galatasaray ahead of Friday’s clash with Kasımpaşa.
The 27-year-old, who has been sidelined with a groin injury, joined his teammates for part of Tuesday’s session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under manager Okan Buruk.
Osimhen took part in the opening stages of the workout before switching to an individual programme prepared by Galatasaray’s medical team as he continues his recovery.
The session included warm-ups, 8v2 passing drills, possession exercises and a small-sided game, with Osimhen participating before continuing his rehabilitation separately.
His return to partial training is a major boost for the Turkish champions, who have been without their leading striker since he suffered the injury in the 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4.
Galatasaray are, however, expected to manage his return carefully rather than rush him straight back into full competitive action.
Osimhen is being assessed with Friday’s Süper Lig meeting with Kasımpaşa at Rams Park in mind, before Galatasaray face another major test against Barcelona in the Champions League on October 13.
The Nigerian striker had made an impressive start to the campaign before his injury, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first four Süper Lig appearances.
