Osimhen, Nwabali absent as Super Eagles unveil squad for Iran, Jordan clashes

The Nigeria national football team have unveiled a 23-man squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan, with notable absentees Victor Osimhen and Stanley Nwabali missing from the list.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle named a squad featuring key players such as Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman, alongside several new faces and returning players, as the team prepares for the March fixtures.

The matches, initially scheduled to take place in Jordan, were moved to Antalya, Turkey, due to the ongoing security concerns in the Middle East.

Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 4 p.m., before taking on Jordan on March 31 at 8 p.m as part of preparations for future international competitions.

Chelle also offered debut call-ups to Emmanuel Fernandez, Philip Otele and Collins Yira Sor, while goalkeeper Adeleye Adebayo returns to the squad.

Regular names such as Maduka Okoye, Calvin Bassey, Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were also included.

Defenders: Calvin Bassey, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, Zaidu Sanusi, Igoh Ogbu, Emmanuel Fernandez.

Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Forwards: Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Chidera Ejuke, Paul Onuachu, Akor Adams, Philip Otele, Collins Yira Sor.
