Rafael Leão has described Victor Osimhen as a “really good friend” and expressed excitement about teaming up with the Nigerian striker at Galatasaray.
Leão made the comments after arriving in Istanbul to complete his move from AC Milan to the Turkish champions, where he is expected to form part of an attacking partnership with Osimhen. Reports confirm that the Portuguese winger chose Galatasaray despite interest from Aston Villa.
Speaking about his relationship with Osimhen, Leão said the two had already discussed the move and were looking forward to playing together.
“Osimhen is a really good friend; I think we will do good things together for Galatasaray. We are in the Champions League, want to win the League, so I am excited.”
Leão also expressed his appreciation for the club’s efforts to secure his transfer and promised to contribute to Galatasaray’s ambitions.
“Galatasaray was looking for this deal to push through from June; the President and vice president did a really good job.
“Thank you to all the guys who made the deal happen. It’s a good opportunity for me, and I will do my best,” he said.
The 27-year-old is joining a Galatasaray side that already has Osimhen as its main attacking figure.
The Nigerian forward has made a strong start to the new campaign, scoring in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Göztepe on Saturday.
Leão’s arrival now gives Galatasaray another high-profile attacking option as the club targets further domestic success while competing in the Champions League.
Leão said his immediate ambition is clear: to work with Osimhen and help the club challenge for major honours.
