Former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday, slammed Governor Godwin Obaseki for allegedly underdeveloping Esanland, particularly, depriving Ewohimi people of pipe borne water and quality health services.
Oshiomhole who is the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the Senate, stated this in Ewohimi in Esan South East Local Government Area of the state during the party’s ward to ward campaign for the September 21 governorship election.
“I built a hospital in Ewohimi and equiped it with the necessary facilities before I left the government but when Obaseki came, he (Obaseki) abandoned it and left it to rot away.
“I built the hospital because I knew the distance between Ewohimi and Irrua where they have a hospital in Esanland. I tell you that today that the hospital is not functioning.
“Also, I felt for the people of Ewohimi and the environment that they didn’t have portable drinking water. Hence, I decided to provide water for them.
“I awarded a contract to provide water for the people by connecting the Ugbalo water project to Agadaga in Ewohimi. I awarded the contract to an Esan man. I paid 50% of the contract, but when Obaseki came, he stopped it”, adding that the project would have connected the neighboring community around Ewohimi and make the people comfortable.
The former governor also spoke on the allegation that he called Ewohimi people witches and wizards. He denied the allegation, stressing that he never said so.
“I only used it to illustrate while Asue Ighodalo have never slept Ewohimi or stayed to eat his mother’s food at Ewohimi.
“We are here to solicit for your votes for our candidate. Monday Okpebholo will not disappoint you people. I know since 2007, Ewohimi people have always voted for me, and this time around, don’t fail me”, he pleaded.
In his speech, the Director-General of All Progressive Congress (APC) Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, appealed to the people to vote for the party on the election day.
On his part, the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Okpebholo, pleaded with the people to support and vote for him in the September 21st governorship election, declaring that the APC has solutions to the problems of the people.
