Osademe rewrites fashion rules with Camcassid’s reclaimed fabric designs

As the world advances towards fashion trends and fast fashion, attention is fast shifting towards sustainability and innovation to preserve resources, even as the fashion world is under scrutiny for its expendable items, overproduction, passing fads, harmful effects of the industry on the environment, pollution and textile waste.

Camcassid, founded by Camilla Osademe, stands out because of its unique approach towards sustainable fashion that is evident in its textile sourcing and crafting unique designs that are not just aesthetically appealing but also comfortable. Furthermore, its innovative practices help in combating textile waste and over-production of textiles.

Camcassid started off in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, before going international as a registered company in the United Kingdom.

Osademe said, “Our designs rely heavily on the textiles reclaimed, making our pieces one-of-a-kind.”

She explained the processes and outcomes of the brand’s designs, using reclaimed pieces of cloth, saying Camcassid is committed to creating personalised style through limited-edition ready-to-wear pieces, crafted from reclaimed fabrics, that shows that fashion can be beautiful, distinctive and environment-friendly.

Camcassid is powered by the concept of sustainable fashion created from discarded, leftover or unused textiles that are artfully and lovingly transformed into garments.

The sustainable vision of this brand is practical in words, action and production.

Transforming from its beginning as a small-scale individual bespoke tailoring house to a global fashion label following Osademe’s immersion in the international fashion industry during her self-development journey in the UK in 2024, the journey so far has seen the founder taking her career as a designer and fashion entrepreneur to the fashion capitals of the world.

Camcassid’s concept of using available fabric to create dresses has given new value through creativity and excellent craftsmanship, drawing the attention of fashion lovers to sustainable fashion forwardness.

In August, the fashion house participated in the Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) 2026. It served the world with its unique designs, winning international audiences and carving a niche for itself, with designers, retailers, guests and media representatives showing interest in its sustainability-driven vision.

Earlier, the brand also outlined its vision in the York Fashion Week, York, and the Africa Fashion Show in Manchester in 2025, where designs crafted with reclaimed textiles were displayed on the runway.

Osademe noted that the biggest challenge remains “fast fashion”, because it encourages mass production, imitation and cheaper alternatives.

However, Camcassid, in its own way, is changing the narrative, one unique design at a time, with a strong, ethical supply chain.
