Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has directed his media team, supporters and political associates to stop mentioning or responding to other candidates seeking the Abia North Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 election.
Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate, gave the directive in a statement signed by George Maduka on behalf of his office.
According to the statement, the senator wants his re-election campaign to focus on his record in the areas of legislative activities, infrastructure and human capital development across the five local government areas in the district.
The statement urged members of his media team and supporters to avoid personal attacks, exchanges and political controversies involving other candidates.
It said Kalu believes voters should assess candidates based on their records, performance and capacity to deliver.
The statement listed several projects and programmes it attributed to the senator, including the construction and renovation of more than 100 school blocks and classrooms, provision of educational materials, and the attraction of over 70 road projects across Abia North.
It also said more than 50 youths and other beneficiaries from the district had benefited from overseas scholarships, international training and capacity-building opportunities facilitated through Kalu’s representation.

The statement further cited empowerment programmes, healthcare interventions and federal interventions in communities affected by erosion, flooding and other environmental challenges.
On his legislative activities, Kalu’s office said he had sponsored bills covering areas including education, security, taxation, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, environmental protection, energy and social welfare since his election to the Senate in 2019.
Among them are the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act Amendment Bill; National Tax Crimes Commission Bill; National Food Bank Establishment Bill; Compulsory Free Universal Basic Education Act Amendment Bill; National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency Amendment Bill; Armed Forces Act Amendment Bill; Federal College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu Bill; Federal Polytechnic Abiriba Bill; Federal University of Medical Sciences and Biomedical Technology, Umunna, Bende Bill; Federal University of Technology, Ovim Bill; Federal College of Agriculture, Isiochi Bill; Nigeria Chinese Language Village Bill; Nigeria Women Trust Fund Bill; Social Welfare Service Bill; and several other legislative proposals.
He has equally sponsored motions addressing the rehabilitation of the Eastern Rail Line, rural water supply in Abia North, banking infrastructure in the district, decentralisation of Nigeria’s electricity grid, healthcare access for vulnerable Nigerians, renewable energy for health centres, compulsory use of body-worn cameras by law enforcement agencies, crude oil theft, illegal mining, maritime development, research and innovation, among other national issues.
The statement said Kalu had therefore directed his supporters to allow his achievements, ongoing projects and plans for the future to form the basis of his campaign.
It added that the campaign should remain focused on issues, development and service to the people, without insults or personal attacks.
Kalu also thanked residents of Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Umunneochi for their support and said the 2027 election would provide an opportunity for voters to assess his stewardship.
