German news outlet Kicker has confirmed reports from French media regarding a potential transfer of Super Eagles striker Gift Orban to FC Toulouse.
Kicker notes that Orban has been released from his club commitments to negotiate a move. However, Kicker emphasizes that while Orban’s departure appears likely, an agreement is still a long way off. He might also consider moving to a different club, potentially another Ligue 1 side.
Orban recently joined Hoffenheim during the January 2025 transfer window, where he scored four goals in 13 league appearances for head coach Christian Ilzer’s side last spring. However, due to changes in the squad over the summer, he now finds himself lower on the depth chart. Tim Lemperle, Fisnik Asllani, and young striker Max Moerstedt are ahead of him after performing well in training.
Hoffenheim may still wish to retain Orban’s services, as a recent injury to Czech striker Adam Hlozek could mean they will need him. Nevertheless, his departure seems unlikely; he was not included in Hoffenheim’s squad for their 0-4 away win against Hansa Rostock in the opening round of the DFB Pokal. Asllani was the starting lead striker, scoring a goal and providing an assist, while Moerstedt came off the bench to score a brace.
