The Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN) has endorsed the 2026 National Workshop of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN), pledging its support for initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s business climate, industrial development and economic growth.

The endorsement was conveyed by key stakeholders within the organised private sector, comprising the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), and the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE).

Among the industry leaders associated with the endorsement are NACCIMA National President, Engr (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim; LCCI President, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi; MAN President, Dr. Ifeanyi Eric Okoye; NECA Director-General, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde; and CPPE Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Muda Yusuf.

The support underscores the importance of collaboration between the media and the organised private sector in promoting informed public discourse on policies affecting commerce, industry, investment, and enterprise development in Nigeria.

The CICAN 2026 National Workshop holding on November 19th at Protea Hotel, Alausa in Ikeja is expected to bring together policymakers, business leaders, regulators, financial experts, development practitioners and media professionals to examine critical issues shaping the nation’s business environment.

The workshop will provide a platform for constructive engagement on the challenges and opportunities confronting Nigerian businesses, particularly manufacturers, small and medium-scale enterprises, employers, and investors, while exploring practical solutions for sustainable economic growth.

CICAN said the support from OPSN and its constituent organisations would strengthen the workshop’s objectives and enhance its relevance to national economic development.

In a press statement jointly signed by its National Chairman Comrade Taiwo Hassan and Secretary-General, Comrade Olufemi Orioye, the association expressed appreciation to the organised private sector for its confidence in the association and its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote meaningful engagement between the media and the business community.

Hassan noted that the media remained a critical partner in disseminating economic information, explaining government policies, highlighting business challenges, and holding stakeholders accountable for their contributions to national development.

The National Chairman assured that CICAN would continue to promote professional business journalism and create platforms for dialogue among the government, private sector, and other stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s economic interests.

The Secretary-General of CICAN, Comrade Olufemi Orioye, also commended the OPSN members for their support, describing the endorsement as an important boost to the association’s efforts to strengthen the relationship between commerce and industry correspondents and the organised business community.

Orioye said the association remained committed to ensuring that the workshop generated practical ideas, policy recommendations, and collaborative opportunities capable of improving the operating environment for Nigerian businesses.

He added that sustained cooperation between journalists and private-sector organisations was essential to promoting transparency, improving public understanding of economic reforms, and amplifying the contributions of businesses to employment generation, investment, and national prosperity

CICAN expressed optimism that the support of OPSN and its member organisations would contribute to the success of the 2026 National Workshop and strengthen the association’s engagement with key players in Nigeria’s commerce and industrial sectors.
