Operatives of Edo Police Command in manhunt for kidnappers of passengers

Eighteen passengers have been reportedly abducted along the Benin-Akure highway near Obarenren village, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State by suspected kidnappers.

The kidnappers were said to have shot sporadically into the air before taking their victims into the bush.

Confirming the incident, Edo State Police Command PPRO, SP Eno Ikoedem, said a joint security operation launched a manhunt for the abductors.

She disclosed that massive bush combing led to the rescue of 11 victims, adding that efforts were on to rescue the remaining victims.

“The incident happened last Saturday. The passengers were in an 18-seater Big Joe bus. We have been combing the bush in collaboration with the Nigerian Army.

“No Arrest has been made yet”, Ikoedem said.
