Residents of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State have expressed excitement as troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) donated 200 bags of fertilizer to farmers, in a renewed drive to strengthen food security and deepen civil-military cooperation in the North West.
The donation which was made on behalf of the Theatre Commander, Major General O.O. Soyele, and presented by the Theatre Logistics Component Commander, Brigadier General Nkemakolam Mbaka was handed over to the Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Bawa.
Speaking at the event, Major General Soyele said the initiative was part of OPFY’s corporate social responsibility under the Defence Headquarters’ civil-military cooperation efforts. He explained that the support would not only boost agricultural productivity but also encourage farmers to safely return to their farms amid military operations targeted at securing rural communities.
The Theatre Commander commended the Emir of Tsafe, the Zamfara State Government, and residents for their continued support in the fight against terrorism and banditry. He noted that the intervention was facilitated through backing from the Army Headquarters and other Services, urging beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilizer to achieve higher yields and improve livelihoods.

In his remarks, the Emir of Tsafe, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Bawa, described the gesture as timely and impactful. He assured that the intervention would significantly enhance food production and improve the well-being of farmers in the area.
The monarch also urged his subjects to continue supporting troops in their mission to restore peace and stability across the region.
The event was attended by community leaders, representatives of the Tsafe Local Government Chairman, and members of the host community, who all praised the proactive role of OPFY in promoting stability, resilience, and community development.
