Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) led by Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has declared it readiness to assist the government in tackling insecurity in the Southwest.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety of lives and property, particularly in the southwestern region of Nigeria.
The socio-cultural organisation which was founded on August 29, 1994, has grown into an international recognition .
The 30th Anniversary of the organisation has been announced by , Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Kolawole Raheem, who said that all six south western governors, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and other dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria are expected to attend the nine-day event in Lagos.

The celebrations will begin on Friday, August 23, 2024, with a Thanksgiving Programme.
The anniversary will showcase the group’s achievements over the years.
Raheem revealed that former Ogun State governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel will serve as Chairman of the Day, and Prof. Olufemi Otubanjo, a Senior Researcher at the Nigerian Institute for International Affairs (NIIA), will be the guest lecturer.
The week-long event will include visits to notable locations such as Old People’s Home on August 24, 2024, and Pacelli School for the Blind and Deaf the following day. It will also feature the official commissioning of the N1 billion Legacy Project, “The Oodua House, and a Heroes’ Day celebration, providing an opportunity to highlight the OPC’s achievements over the past three decades.
