Dr Princess Adedoja Olorunfemi Ogunwusi, sister to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, was among the notable Nigerians who were bestowed with honorary doctorate degrees at the 3rd edition of the Global Multi-Concept Business School Regional Conference.
The event which held in collaboration with the American Institute for Commonwealth and Africa, took place in Lagos last Friday.
Other distinguished individuals who received honorary doctorate degrees include Dr Hon. Prince Abayomi Johnson Odeniran, Amb. Dr. Harry Musa Adams, Dr. Chief Clement Chukwuemeka Iwegbuna Omenma, Amb. Dr. Champion Michael Onyekwelu, and Amb. Dr. Helen Nwabuje Obijiaku among others.
Ooni’s wife, HRM Queen Omolola Oyewusi was one of the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Prof. Onyeka Ojigbo, the school’s director, encouraged the newly inducted individuals to strive for excellence.
“The award is a call to contribute more to various sectors of the economy. Our charge to them is to go out there and do some more…. When people are recognised, there is this urge to do more,” she said.
Professor Ojigbo during the presentation of the paper at the conference, emphasised the transformative power of digital technology in Nigeria’s business landscape and everyday life, stating: “Digital transformation is the fate of businesses as inter-connectivity has drastically changed communication technologies, enabling work execution and delivery not only in Nigeria but globally.”
Addressing the conference, she highlighted the country’s progress in digital transformation, stating: “Nigeria is not doing badly, but it is not there yet. We are a reminder of the profound impact of technology on our business, finances, lifestyle, education, and other areas of life.”
Ojigbo stressed the importance of embracing digital transformation, asserting: “Today, we are focused on digital transformation. No matter how we say we don’t want to get entangled, it is the fate of new businesses. As entrepreneurs, students, or workers, it is time to incorporate it into whatever you are doing.”
Ojigbo praised Nigeria’s advancements in digital banking and transactional technologies, affirming: “We could do digital banking. We have the PoS working, which we could not do before now.”
