The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has expressed delight over the successful screening of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode by the Nigerian Senate, describing the accomplishment as a proud moment for Ifeland and Osun State indigenes.
In a statement delivered by his representative, Dr. Sooko Kemade Elugbaju, Sooko Omoniyi and Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Ooni of Ife, the monarch lauded Chief Fani-Kayode, highlighting his distinguished lineage and contributions to Nigeria.
Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who holds multiple traditional titles including Aare Ajagunla of Otun Ekiti, Sadaukin Shinkafi, Wakilin Doka Potiskum, and Otunba Joga Orile, is a seasoned lawyer and former Federal Minister. He hails from the renowned Gbúde lineage, which has produced several notable figures, including his father, the late Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, former Deputy Premier of the Western Region and Regional Minister; his grandfather, Justice Adedapo Kayode, one of Nigeria’s pioneering judges; and his great-grandfather, Rev. Emmanuel Kayode, a leading clergyman who introduced Christianity and social reforms to Ile-Ife.

The Ooni’s statement emphasized the pride of Ifeland and Osun State, noting: “Well done, and more grace.” Dr. Elugbaju added that His Majesty expressed confidence that Chief Fani-Kayode, as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will continue to make significant contributions to the nation, citing his previous service as Minister of Aviation where he effectively positioned several Osun State indigenes in key roles across parastatals.
The monarch also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the honor bestowed on Chief Fani-Kayode, praying for continued blessings on the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
