The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, has made a donation of N20 million as endowment fund to assist bright students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Imo State.
The monarch described the out-going Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. (Mrs) Nnenna N. Oti, as a rare breed who, he said, has left an indelible mark in her services to the university and the country at large.
The Ooni of Ife stated this in his remark after being conferred with the Honourary Degree Causa (D.MT) alongside the Chief Executive, MRS, Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, and the Chairman/CEO, Brittania-U, Barr (Mrs) Catherine Uju Ifejika, at the 38th convocation of the university, held last Saturday.
He said, “Prof Mrs Nnenna Oti, the outgoing Vice Chancellor of this great institution is a rare specie; a VC of very high repute and integrity, who has done so many wonderful things in this country. It is a great honour for me having to be conferred with this Honourary Degree Causa of Management alongside the two other distinguished Nigerians, Barr Mrs Catherine Uju Ifejika, Chairperson/CEO of Brittania-U, and Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, CEO, MRS. I am one of her cheer leaders and I will continue to talk about her wherever I go. I know you’re leaving and not tired. Her high repute and integrity has helped her in attracting eminent Nigerians who have contributed to the institution. You have done well”.
He added, “I decided to set up this Endowment Fund of N20 million to help the bright students of this institution. I am seeing the future leaders of Nigeria in the faces of these graduands. Our industrialists, scientists, businessmen and leaders are all here today”, the monarch remarked.
