Turkish media has claimed that Trabzonspor will soon make their final efforts to sign Super Eagles’ Paul Onuachu.

The Southampton forward has been linked with a return to the Super Lig club after he impressed during his loan there last season.

Sabah on Monday reported Trabzonspor has made it a priority to get a deal done for the Southampton player after accepting defeat in their attempts to sign Burnley’s Wout Weghorst. The Dutchman was the Turkish side’s back-up plan, but it seems like they can’t convince him over a transfer.

Subsequently, Trabzonspor will again hold negotiations with Southampton with regards to signing Onuachu.

Southampton has already rejected an offer of €7m, plus €2m add-ons from the Trabzon club and it’s hoped a middle ground can be found during these meetings.

It’s reported the two clubs will now look to finalise a deal for the Nigerian as Trabzonspor hopes to fix their woes in front of goal.

Onuachu made 25 appearances last season for Trabzonspor, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
