The maiden edition of One House Fitness and Social Club football competition, yesterday, 25th of October, kicked-off at Nigeria Army Dog Centre, Ipaja, Lagos.
The four clubs tourney which will be played in league format amongst players at the range of 40 year-old and above, is scheduled to run every fortnight as teams aimed for an eye-popping premier prize alongside individual awards.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Chairman Board of Trustee, Adeyemi Gbadebo Adekunle, disclosed all is set to stage a memorable tourney capable of uniting members of the club. He however hinted the tourney is billed to divert members attention away from social vices while urging them all to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.
“ This is an initiative of the new president and the inspiration was derived from the fact that we need to engage the society. This form as our corporate social responsibility and a recreational venue for resident of the community.
You can see children running around and gentle men finding pleasure engaging in sporting activities. The basic challenge is getting people to come out just like the organizers as declared the tourney for youths @40 and above. I can assure you we’ll be putting in place world class medical facilities for players who are willing to participate. Looking at the age grade of eligible players, you’ll conclude the tourney will serve as a novelty. More also the union is for all to cement relationship and i urged teams to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship while we enjoy the tourney,’ he stated.
In a similar vein, Club President, Sunny Okon also hinted the tournament has come to stay while lauding the recent achievement of the club in the past three years. Okon who derived joy bringing people together for betterment of the community, vowed never to relent in his bid to ensure the club attain enviable height.
“ Coming together to got ourselves involve in sporting activities as been my joy. We also have several members in diaspora who are willing to put in their best in ensuring the club attain the level it should be.
This tourney will be play in a league format and their are a lot of goodies awaiting winner and outstanding players. One House Fitness and Social Club is all about coming to socialize with your peers and it was formed fifteen years ago by group of friends who stays in same vicinity. We have achieved a lot together and we are aiming to achieve more with this tournament. Over the years, we have always look forward to what will always bring a huge crowd and we thank God we are about to achieve this. I urge all teams to be of good conduct and I can assure you all, this is just a tip of the iceberg,’ he declared.
