“It was around 8:00am when the incident happened. A car which had three persons inside fell off the road. Two persons were recued while it took the rescuers about four hours to rescue the last person.”

A resident in the estate, Patricia Chukwu recalled that the incident was not the first as it happened last year.

“Exactly this time last year, a man and his son lost their lives in Efab Old Gate, Lokogoma, on the same spot. Sadly, the same incident happened yesterday with a Mercedes ML Jeep conveying two persons on their way back from dropping off his children in school at Efab.

“Fortunately, some boys rescued two of the victims who were rushed to the hospital. While, they continued the search for the young man who came out first from the car and painfully he fell back into the river.”

Another eyewitness, Miriam Ahmed attributed the cause to a spiritual manipulation.

“A man in his early 30s, who tried to rescue his uncle from the Jeep, was eventually used as sacrifice by the marine.

“How will they drive from corner shop near the Catholic church where his children school is located and fell inside the river from the bridge is a misery.”

As of the time of filing this report, the wreckage was yet to evacuated.

Meanwhile, residents in the area have appealed to the estate’s management to install protectors to prevent future occurrence.
