Crisis erupted in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday as some irate youth allegedly beat up the traditional ruler of the town, the Onidogun of Idogun, Oba Moses Bakare, while his wife and son were also attacked.

The queen of the traditional ruler was stripped half-naked by the angry youth while the crisis lasted in the town.

The attack, according to sources, led to pandemonium in the town as this year’s new yam festival celebrated annually in the town was disrupted.

The crisis, it was gathered, started at Ishara quarters as the son of the monarch, identified as Victor Bakare, visited his parents to celebrate the annual festival.

Victor, while recounting the humiliation his family faced in the hands of the suspected thugs, said his mother was humiliated and stripped half-naked.

He alleged that the youth, who attacked him poured urine and other filthy substances on him, even as they physically assaulted the monarch.

Oba Bakare condemned the assault as a continuation of unprovoked hostility from a faction of youth within the community, labeling the act as barbaric and unfortunate.

He praised the prompt intervention of police operatives and the Amotekun Corps, who quelled the unrest.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, said: “The case is under investigation and we are leaving no stone unturned at ensuring that justice is served.
