Ondo State Police Command says it arrested over 100 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists in the past couple of weeks. Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal said: “The command has made some progress in its fight against crime. We will continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation and professionalism in safeguarding the lives and properties of our citizens.
I visited some black spots and redeployed some tactical team operatives. The command has imbibed community policing. Operatives of the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad [TIRS] arrested three suspected armed robbers and murderers who brutally killed a motorcycle rider.
“Operatives of B Division Owo, moved against two notorious cult members of Aye Confraternity terrorising Isuada community. Operatives of Ikare Akoko Division arrested two suspected kidnappers.
“Police operatives with credible intelligence raided criminals’ hideouts in Urban Akure and arrested 16 suspects and recovered four motorcycles and hard drugs. We launched a special operation and recovered five cars and six other unregistered vehicles.

“Five suspected armed robbers were arrested at Wesco Junction, Ilesha-Akure Road, Ikare-Akoko and Alagbaka extension. Five locally made single barrel guns and 13 live cartridges were recovered. A suspected fraudster who orchestrated a N10million scam in the Oloko, Akure, was arrested.
“Operatives arrested two suspects for stealing gold chain worth N11,000,000 and gold necklace valued at N5,155,000. Two suspected vandals disguising as scavenger were caught vandalising vehicles and company materials at OSAC, Aponmu.
“Police stormed the hideout of a notorious ex-convict and receiver of stolen goods. We recovered 10 mobile phones, six pressing irons, 143 SIM cards, two mattresses and motorcycle.
Police at Kajola Division arrested a suspect who confessed to having killed his younger brother over a financial dispute. He alleged that the deceased had unlawfully transferred N20,000 from his account.”
