Ondo Police arrest 40-year-old landlady for allegedly poisoning tenant’s son

Ondo State Police command has confirmed the arrest of one Mrs Nafisat Lateef who allegedly poisoned a three year old son of her tenant at Omifon in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state police command, Mr Jimoh Abayomi who confirmed the arrest said police have commenced investigations on the matter.

The PPRO said the 40 years old landlady poisoned the boy following an argument between her and the victim’s mother, identified as Rofiat.

He hinted that findings by the police showed that the suspect gave the victim a poisonous liquid substance.

“Shortly after consuming the substance, the child began vomiting and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he received medical attention. Police detectives, during an intelligence operation, arrested the suspect,” the PPRO said.

Jimoh further stated that in the course of investigation, the detectives recovered the liquid substance suspected to be poison.

The PPRO assured that the police would get to the root of the matter and charge the suspect to court.
