A pro-democracy group, Mebinone Asogbon Support Group, has charged Ondo State indigenes to vote the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Saturday gubernatorial election.
Members of the group led by Mebinone Asogbon were on ground to cheer Aiyedatiwa, who on Tuesday, concluded his campaign tour on home soil in Ilaje Local Government Area, where he was received by his people in grand style.
Asogbon and his team were seen charging indigenes to come out encase to vote the first governor from their region. The group cheered Aiyedatiwa as he received overwhelming support from community leaders, traditional rulers and a host of other stakeholders.
“We’ve resolved to support Aiyedatiwa beyond 2025. We believe in his dedication to our people and his commitment to improving infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities across our communities.
He has shown a genuine commitment to the progress of our coastal society and we are here to ensure his continued leadership as governor,” Asogbon stated.
Responding, Aiyedatiwa thanked the leaders and supporters who gathered to endorse his election. He acknowledged the support of the traditional rulers and pledged to continue his efforts in transforming Ilaje and Ondo State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing projects and initiating new developments to further uplift the area, vowing to work tirelessly for the progress and prosperity of the people in his local government. Notably, the Governor assured his administration is committed to reclaiming the community from the destructive impact of sea incursion while assuring them that their concerns were fully acknowledged and would be prioritised by his administration.
“Unlike other candidates who make promises they won’t fulfil, I don’t believe in empty words. I will take action and deliver good governance.
“We know what the people of this region want even before they ask for it, which is why my special adviser on infrastructure has been tasked with taking note of your needs and reporting back for immediate action.
“We understand how important roads, healthcare, infrastructure and education are to your people. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that no community is left behind. We are ready to serve you better and bring meaningful development to every corner of Ilaje Local Government.”
Aiyedatiwa also assured that activities will begin on the establishment of the deep seaport in the coming year, with plans to facilitate the construction of an airstrip near the project. He urged his people to remain confident in his administration’s resolve to bring about meaningful development to their area.
