Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked a farmland in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State and killed a farmer, Mr Orimisan Balogun.

Balogun, according to the residents of the area, was hacked to death after he challenged some herdsmen who invaded his farmland for grazing activities.

There have been attacks on farmlands by suspected Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the state in recent time. The attack which started in Ondo North Senatorial district moved to the Central where the farm of former Secretary to the Government of the Federal (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, was attacked.

Some farmlands close to Chief Falae’s farm have been attacked with death and injury to some farmers. The attacks have moved to Ondo South with the killing of Balogun in Ore last week.

This development led to the protest by Ikale farmers who complained over incessant attacks and killings by herdsmen in Ore.

The farmers in their hundreds described the ‘incessant’ killings by Fulani herdsmen as “worrisome” and “unacceptable” to them.

The protesters said Balogun was hacked to death by herdsmen after he challenged them for destroying his farmland.
