The Uloko Agbonden Community in Ondo East Local Government ,Ondo State, has raised the alarm over alleged collusion between the the police and some land grabbers.
The community accused the police of colluding with some persons to take over their ancestral lands.
In a save-our-souls letter signed by the community Lawyer, D.D Adejumola, the call on Inspector-General of Police, Governor of Ondo State and Civil society organizations to come to their rescue as the matter has led to the detention of the community head
“We are particularly alarmed by the intimidation and harassment of our community leader. We urge the authorities to take immediate action to stop these illegal activities and protect our rights,” they said.
The letter added: “The community leader, HRH Moses Awonusi, the Uloko of Uloko Agbonden, has been restrained and held in his palace since yesterday. The community is calling on relevant authorities to intervene and ensure justice is served.
“We are calling on the IGP ,Governor of Ondo State, civil society organizations, the media, and the general public to intervene urgently and save Uloko Agbonden Community before the situation escalates.
“ Let it be clear that we will not be silenced, and we will not fold our arms while our heritage is stolen under the guise of law enforcement. Justice must prevail.
Our community stands united in truth, and we are ready to defend our land peacefully but firmly.”
