Omosehin assumes duty as Commissioner for Insurance

A former managing director of Old Mutual Nigeria Life Assurance, Olusegun Omosehin, Friday, assumed duty as the Commissioner for Insurance/CEO, of the National Insurance Commission, for a four-year term.

Omosehin who arrived at the National Insurance Commission’s headquarters, Abuja, for his assumption of duty was welcomed by senior members of staff.

Following his arrival, he had an interactive session with the entire management and staff of the commission. In his opening remark, he stated that the executive management would set a new tone for the Nigerian insurance sector.

His predecessor, Mr. Sunday Thomas, who was in attendance to officially handover, thanked the staff for their support while he was in office.

Omosehin expressed optimism to achieve a more vibrant insurance sector, noting that the federal government intends to achieve a $ 1 trillion economy by 2026. With the target in view, the insurance sector is expected to play a critical role and contribute to its achievement.

Until his recent appointment as Commissioner for Insurance, Omosehin was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Nigeria Life Assurance Company Limited, as well as the Chairman of Nigerian Insurers Association.
