The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has commended the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, for his urgent response to prevent the staged coup in Benin Republic.

The monarch in a statement by his spokesperson, Alli Ibraheem, on Monday, noted that the swift action of the defense rescued the attempt to undermine democracy in Benin Republic.

“The professional intervention of the Nigeria Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, to halt the staged coup in Benin Republic is commendable. It is rare to see army officers cooperating in upholding democratic tenets.

“Your timely intervention in restoration of democracy in the Republic of Benin is not only a mark of loyalty but also remark of merit and credit.

“Barely a few days after your appointment as the defence minister, you have raised the bar of Nigeria as a true giant and hope of the black race.

“I salute your courage. I congratulate you and wish you the best in the new assignment. God will continue to be your pilot to constructively place Nigeria as the greatest of the black race,” Oluwo said.
