The Oluremi @65 Education Fund, launched by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, has raised N25,520,708,074.35 towards rebuilding the National Library.

Launched ahead of her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, the initiative quickly gained traction. As of September 22, 2025, it had raised over N20.4 billion.

In a press statement she personally signed on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the First Lady announced the closure of the donation account, expressing profound gratitude to Nigerians, family, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming support. The initiative, aimed at advancing education, preserving knowledge, and fostering national development, garnered widespread goodwill across the country.

“Your support affirms our shared commitment to education, preservation of knowledge, and national development. I am deeply encouraged by the goodwill and unity this initiative has inspired,” Mrs Tinubu stated.

She disclosed that the project now falls under the supervision of the Minister of Education, urging further contributions to be channelled through the Ministry. The account shutdown marks the end of the three-month fundraising drive, which began shortly after her birthday celebration.

The First Lady extended New Year wishes, saying, “I wish you and your families a peaceful and prosperous 2026,” while reaffirming her thanks to all contributors.
