The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, confirmed on Wednesday the release of prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State.

The monarch said he got the confirmation from the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, during a telephone conversation at about 5pm on Wednesday.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Olubadan’s media aide, Mr Adeola Oloko.

The statement was titled, “NYSC: The prospective members of the youth service corps, who were abducted have been released.”

The statement, however, did not disclose details on their release.

It was also silent on whether any ransom was paid, where the victims were released and their condition after regaining their freedom.

Feelers from some of the parents of the corps members revealed that the release would bring relief to the victims, their families and others who had expressed concern over their safety.
