Nigeria and six other African countries catering sector are set to experience an innovative change with the launch of Olokpo, a new catering service app that would enable food lovers to connect with talented caterers with ease.

Olokpo, an initiative of Faiken Dawn Group Limited is designed to cater for caterers and food enthusiasts. While it will make the dreams of caterers come true by providing them a platform to actualise those dreams, the app would also solve the challenge of finding the appropriate caterers for the food enthusiasts.

Speaking during the media launch of the app, Jennifer Onose Eromosele, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Faiken Dawn Group told journalists the app is not just about making life easier for food enthusiasts; it is also a platform where talented caterers can showcase their skills and earn a living doing what they love. “Our app provides caterers with a thriving marketplace to connect with clients and earn a fair wage for their culinary expertise”, she said.

She disclosed the new application would first test the waters in three African countries (Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana) before expanding to other four.

Eromosele pointed out that Olokpo would revolutionise catering service with modern convenience because the app offers innovative features such as seamless payment, booking and a user-friendly design.

She said, “It is designed to connect users with caterers nearest to them, using a map-based interface. Caterers can be found anywhere with the Olokpo app. Uber is already solving a similar problem in the transportation industry. At the tap of your phone and from the convenience of your home, you can identify and hire a caterer for your various needs.

Whether you are hosting an intimate dinner party, a lavish wedding reception, or a corporate conference, Olokpo, which is Android and Apple-compliant, connects you with caterers who can deliver culinary experiences to remember. We believe that exceptional catering should be accessible to everyone, no matter the occasion.

She explained that measures have also been put in place for verification of caterers who seek to subscribe to the app. This includes phone number linked to their BVN (Bank Verification Number) and email verifications. “Furthermore, we will embark on an in-house verification process through our legal team. Caterers who are not up to standard will be filtered out”.

Also at the launch, Eromosele also announced Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson as brand influencer for the new app adding that three more influential bloggers will soon be added to the list.

Dennis Onose, Digital Marketing Lead, Olokpo, urged professionals in the catering service sector to take advantage of the opportunity offered them to grow their businesses.

“It is just like what Uber does. Olokpo is bringing customers to you within a single click. So, now, it is all about your delivery,” he advised.
