Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles coach Sunday Ugochukwu Oliseh has come out to deny applying for the vacate Super Eagles managerial position, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation earlier in the month declared the position vacant after the departure of Jose Peseiro.

While speaking to the Punch Correspondent, Oliseh in strong terms denied applying for the job and said he only showed interest in the job.

“I did not apply for the Eagles job, reports that stated so are false.

Oliseh only stated that, “If Nigeria needed my help as a coach I would be willing to help if the conditions were right. I’m open to helping Nigeria but I did not apply for the job.”

“If we (Nigeria) cannot offer our indigenous coaches opportunities to help the country’s football, then who else will”, he said.

The former midfielder succeeded the late Stephen Keshi in 2015 and resigned in 2016.
