ARA OGIDI CREATIVE CONCEPT proudly announces the upcoming premiere of Finding the Bride, an electrifying Yoruba comedy set to take the stage at the iconic Wole Soyinka Theatre, University of Ibadan, on August 2nd, 2025.
The production shines under the artistic direction of Olanrewaju Balogun, who also stars in the lead role and is celebrated as the standout performer of the show.
Finding the Bride transports audiences into the colourful world of Folarin, played by Balogun, a young man convinced he has found true love in his enchanting fiancée, Morounkeji. Seeking to build a spiritually grounded relationship, Folarin turns to the charismatic Pastor Majemu for premarital guidance—unaware that the pastor’s pious demeanour masks a selfish and scandalous motive. When the pastor falsely proclaims that Morounkeji is not “God’s will,” only to secretly marry her himself, chaos erupts in a cascade of Yoruba humour, village gossip, and social satire.
