Oladayo raises bar in boxing promotion

A new chapter was opened in boxing promotion last Saturday at the Lekan Salami Stadium as Glorious Sports Promotion hosted an international boxing bout.

The convener of the show tagged “Super Fight 3.0”; Ganiyu Oladayo reiterated that boxing is the biggest sports in the country despite the meager support and funding by the government.

The fight event showcased an international bout where Nigeria flag was raised in glory when Wasiu Akintayo Oloba Shitta defeated his opponent Soule Keke of Cotonou.

The fight event features 12 knockouts of 13 bouts of the night with

Agboola Durotimi Tiny knocking out Lukman Bashiru while Atoyebi Olamilekan stopped Adeniji Sesan in the second round of the four round contest.

Azeez Lateef Sledge Puncher won the fastest knockout of the night just as Wasiu Ayomide Raheem stopped Fathai Azeez in the final round of their 4 rounds contest while Yakubu Faruq Fakky had the better of Oyewole Ibrahim Coded in the second round,

Speaking after the entertaining show, Oladayo said the glory of the event was not overnight success but years of dedication and passion, adding that boxing can become a shinning pride of the nation and urged the private sector to invest just as he called on the government to offer more support to the sport.

He also hopes the boxers will get to a level where they can conveniently live off their craft because they deserve to and also get bigger purse on fights night

Oladayo expressed his gratitude to the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), the chairman of the Oyo State chapter, Gbenga Opaleye, the chairlady of the Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association, Ms Edna Aiyegbeni and other people who supported the show.
