The Okun Development Association (ODA) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for nominating Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The association described the move as a strong endorsement of merit, competence and national inclusiveness.

In a statement issued from its secretariat in Kabba, Kogi State, the association said the nomination reflected Tinubu’s commitment to recognising capable technocrats across the country.

The association also reinforced confidence in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Okunland at home and in the diaspora, the ODA President-General, Ambassador Akenson Rotimi, in the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas. said the appointment signalled a defining moment for Kogi West and a reaffirmation of the region’s contributions to national development.

According to him, Enikanolaiye’s elevation to the federal cabinet underscored Tinubu’s belief in meritocracy and his readiness to tap from a pool of experienced professionals with proven track records in public service.

The association also described the nominee as a distinguished diplomat, whose over four decades of service in Nigeria’s foreign relations embody discipline, intellectual depth and professionalism.

It noted that Enikanolaiye had served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represented Nigeria in key diplomatic missions, including Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi.

Until his nomination, he was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, a role in which ODA said he provided critical policy guidance and institutional expertise to the government.

The group expressed confidence that his appointment aligns with ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to revitalise Nigeria’s foreign policy framework for stronger global engagement, improved strategic partnerships and enhanced international influence.

The association thanked Tinubu for what it described as continued trust in Okun professionals and pledged its commitment to promoting national unity and producing citizens dedicated to service and patriotism.
