Oko polytechnic alumni group hail Tinubu, Education Minister for Dr. Awuzie’s appointment as Rector

The Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni in Diaspora, under the leadership of Comrade Otuu Obinna Ogbonnia (KSM), has expressed her heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, for upholding the principles of transparency and merit in the appointment of Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie as the substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State.

This was according to a statement by the Ogbonnia and made available to newsmen on Thursday.

The statement read, “This decision resonates deeply with the alumni body, staff, and students, as it fulfils our long-standing call for an internally generated Rector, one who understands the institution’s values, challenges, and aspirations.

“Dr. Awuzie’s appointment is a clear demonstration of fairness, competence, and recognition of excellence, proving that dedication and service to an institution do not go unnoticed.

“We are particularly delighted by this choice because of Dr. Awuzie’s unwavering commitment to philanthropy, especially through her foundation, which has consistently provided support to Federal Polytechnic Oko students.

“Over the years, the Student Union Government (SUG) has repeatedly acknowledged her benevolence, and this appointment further strengthens our confidence in her ability to foster growth and development within the institution.

Additionally, Dr. Awuzie’s distinction as the most cited researcher among the contestants is a testament to her intellectual prowess, academic contributions, and leadership in research and innovation.

“This reinforces the credibility of the selection process and affirms that Federal Polytechnic Oko is in capable hands. Once again, we express our profound gratitude to President Tinubu and the Honorable Minister of Education for prioritizing competence, integrity, and institutional progress in this appointment. We remain optimistic that Dr. Awuzie’s tenure will usher in unprecedented advancements for our alma mater.
