Okechukwu, Sylvester crowned champions at Enugu End-of-Year Squash Play-off

Emmanuel Okechukwu and Naomi Sylvester emerged as champions of the 2025 Enugu State End-of-Year Squash Play-off, following impressive performances at the Dragon Squash Court, 82 Division, Enugu.

The tournament, organized by the Enugu State Squash Association, featured over 30 boys and 16 girls between the ages of 10 and 17, and was marked by intense competition throughout the weekend.

In the boys’ category, Emmanuel Okechukwu showcased consistency and resilience on his way to the title. He opened his campaign with a 2–0 victory over Bashir Abdulrahim in the quarter-finals, before defeating Chimezie Okechukwu in the semi-finals. In a thrilling final, Emmanuel edged past Buchi Enyi 3–2 to clinch the boys’ championship.

Naomi Sylvester dominated the girls’ category with commanding displays. She defeated Chidiebere Onaja 2–0 in the quarter-finals, followed by a convincing 3–0 win over Deborah Ade in the semi-finals. Naomi sealed her triumph in the final with a 3–1 victory over Mmachukwu Chiedozie to emerge as the girls’ champion.

The play-off highlighted emerging squash talents in Enugu State and underscored the association’s commitment to developing the sport among young players.
