Okafor Chinedu Emmanuel has been one of the most noticeable of Nigeria’s rising entrepreneurs of Igbo extraction in 2023.
The spotlight on him may not be unconnected with the VGA Music Festival of January 2, which triggered public curiosity to know the primary promoter of the event.
The festival, held at Enu Awgbu Field in Awgbu, Orumba North LGA, Anambra State, was a one-of-a-kind entertainment show that drew reigning musicians in the country to the Southeast region. It then turned out that the VGH Group, the organiser of the show, is owned by Okafor Chinedu Emmanuel.
The conglomerate is best known for VGH Music Record Label, its subsidiary, which in the past few years has been a springboard for budding Nigerian music talents to grow and go global. Some of Nigeria’s rising artistes, such as Crayon, Somto, and the actress Eliogu, launched their music careers on the VGH record label.
However, it was not in music that Okafor Chinedu Emmanuel made his mark as an astute businessman. He owned two other subsidiaries under the VGH Group, namely VGH Industrial Production and VGH Homes Limited.
VGH Industrial Production, for instance, is a leading recycling company in Nigeria and an industry leader on the African continent. It is not the first company to manufacture nylon and plastic products, but it is generally recognised as the first to recycle waste plastic into raw materials.
VGH Homes Limited is also prominent in the real estate sector, where it focuses on building affordable, quality, and innovative homes in Lagos, Abuja, and Anambra.
Okafor Chinedu Emmanuel, who celebrates his birthday on May 12, married in September 2022.
The man who is fondly called the VGH boss of his position as the chairman of the VGH group, also runs a widow-focused foundation.
The native of Awka, Anambra State, was one of the recipients of the 2023 humanitarian awards held recently in the state by Newsland Integrated Media Service (NIMS).
