The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for 2026 while celebrating landmark achievements recorded by the national energy company in 2025.
In a New Year message entitled “We Achieved. We Drive the Future,” the GCEO commended employees for their resilience and commitment in a challenging operating environment.
Addressed to colleagues across the organisation, the message reflected on 2025 as a defining year for NNPC Limited, marked not only by strong results but also by the discipline and ingenuity with which they were achieved.
Ojulari noted that the company exceeded expectations despite heightened demands and external pressures.
According to the GCEO, “Exploration and Production recorded a historic 355,000 barrels of oil per day, the highest output since 1989, underscoring renewed momentum in Nigeria’s upstream sector.”
He described the milestone as evidence of focused execution and technical excellence.
Ojulari highlighted several production advances, including “Madu First Oil, Soku Pipeline optimisation, the Akpo West start-up, and the commissioning of the Gbaran Nodal Compression Train.”
These projects, he said, reinforced NNPC Limited’s capacity to deliver complex assets efficiently.
Major infrastructure breakthroughs also featured prominently in the message. The GCEO cited the “commissioning of the ANOH–OB3 pipeline and the successful River Niger crossing on the AKK gas pipeline as critical enablers of Nigeria’s energy security and gas monetisation drive.”
On the downstream front, NNPC Retail expanded beyond Nigeria’s borders into the West African sub-region with its lubricant brand, Oleum. Ojulari described the move as a strategic step in positioning NNPC Limited as a competitive regional energy brand.
The GCEO further noted the company’s growing transparency and corporate governance credentials, referencing the first-ever NNPC Group Earnings Call where audited 2024 financial results were publicly announced.
Employee welfare and talent development were also key highlights of 2025. Ojulari disclosed that “staff benefited from a significantly improved compensation package, while 1,000 new hires, described as “Tigers,” were on-boarded to deliberately build the next generation of NNPC leaders.”
He added that the Board of Directors demonstrated strong support for execution excellence by approving new Delegation of Authority and Delegation of Financial Authority frameworks, designed to empower leadership and accelerate decision-making across the enterprise.
Looking ahead, Ojulari said NNPC Limited enters 2026 with a clear sense of national responsibility, anchored on the Presidential Mandate to significantly increase Nigeria’s oil and gas production in support of economic growth and development.
He emphasised that delivering on this mandate would require trust, collaboration, and collective strength, both within NNPC Limited and with external stakeholders, including joint venture partners, investors, contractors, and host communities.
The GCEO outlined the company’s “Fit-For-Future” transformation agenda, built around four strategic attributes: “Execution Excellence, Profitable Growth, Partner of Choice, and an Enterprise-First Mindset,” which he said would guide performance in 2026 and beyond.
Ojulari explained that Execution Excellence would be driven by disciplined planning, faster decision-making, early risk identification, and clear accountability, while Profitable Growth would focus on value-driven investments and commercial rigour.
He stressed that becoming a Partner of Choice would depend on transparency, integrity, and consistently keeping commitments, while an Enterprise-First Mindset would require breaking silos, strengthening professionalism, and prioritising long-term impact over short-term gains.
The GCEO expressed optimism about the year ahead, urging employees to approach 2026 with confidence and pride in their collective achievements.
He wished staff and their families a successful New Year, reaffirming his belief that NNPC Limited is well-positioned to write the next chapter of its shared success.
