Abia State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and a group, Vanguard Movement for Continuity (VMC), have passed vote of confidence in the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, commending his measurable improvements in governance, infrastructure and cultural promotion across the state.
At a press conference in Umuahia, yesterday, the Abia chapter chairman of Ohanaeze, Dr Chukwuemeka Okwuonu said the decision to endorse Otti followed a review of developments in the state over the past three years.
Represented by the Publicity Secretary, Godwin Adindu, Okwuonu noted that the administration had recorded progress in all sectors, including healthcare, education, road infrastructure and the civil service, which he said had contributed to improved living standards for residents.
“Aba, often regarded as a commercial hub of the South East, has witnessed renewed infrastructure development, a move he said had strengthened economic activity and reinforced its strategic importance to Igbo enterprise.”
He said the vote of confidence and endorsement was intended to encourage sustained delivery of people focused policies and inclusive development.
The organisation also called on the opposition actors to engage constructively by offering policy alternatives and responsible criticism that would contribute to governance, while avoiding divisive rhetoric.

Meanwhile, VMC, a political pressure group has also endorsed Governor Otti for a second term in office, stating that he had done well as governor.
Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, commended the group for publicly endorsing the governor.
The Speaker, who stood in for Otti said the governor deserved a second term because apart from having performed excellently, the second term would enable him complete the numerous projects that are ongoing across the state.
He noted that unlike before, Abians are now proud of their state and many are now coming back home to invest in the state.
The GM, Abia State, Debt Management Office and BoT chairman of the Alex Otti Vanguard Movement for Continuity, Dr. Kingsley Nwaigburu said the group is a big umbrella that accommodates any one interested in good governance and eager to return Otti to power in 2027.
He described Otti as a gift to Abia, adding that among others, he was able to defray arrears of salaries and pensions owed workers by previous governments, among many other achievements.
Others who spoke, including Dr. Gideon Nwandire and Frank Iwuala, the Secretary of Ndi Imo in Abia and former chairman, Aba North LGA, commended Otti for his good works and called for total support.
