Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has formally endorsed the Imo State Economic Summit 2025, scheduled to take place from 4–5 December in Owerri.

The summit, convened by the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, is expected to bring together global stakeholders to explore new pathways for investment, innovation and growth in the state.

Announcing the endorsement, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator Azuta Mbata, described the summit as a timely intervention and a forward-looking step for the South East.

“This remarkable initiative with the engagement of global stakeholders by Governor Uzodinma is a commendable and visionary step toward repositioning Imo State as a hub of innovation, investment and economic competitiveness. It reflects the kind of bold leadership Alaigbo needs at this defining moment in our history,” he said.

The 2025 summit, themed “Unlocking Imo’s economic potential: partnership, investment & innovation,” aligns strongly with Ohanaeze’s long-standing advocacy for the economic revival of the region.

The organisation said the focus on collaboration, job creation and sustainable development speaks directly to the aspirations of Ndigbo, especially at a time when the region seeks stronger economic footing.

According to Ohanaeze, the summit offers an opportunity to reduce social vulnerabilities and expand economic opportunities for the people of Imo and the wider South East.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the apex Igbo body reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes and policies that promote progress, stability and the wellbeing of Ndigbo.

“We applaud Governor Uzodinma for this worthy initiative,” the statement added, urging stakeholders across public and private sectors to participate fully to ensure the summit’s outcomes translate into meaningful and lasting benefits.

The economic summit is expected to produce a roadmap for repositioning Imo State as a competitive investment destination, with emphasis on technology, industrial growth and partnerships that can stimulate long-term development.
