Ojodu City FC, a leading Nigerian club, aims to discover, train, and promote top football talents while connecting them with markets.
Football Director Paul Ogunlaja has a strong understanding of football development based on the European model.
The team competed in the 76th Viareggio Youth Tournament in Italy and then toured Croatia, demonstrating skill, resilience, and a desire to improve.
During these events, Ojodu City achieved notable results: finishing the group stage at Viareggio with a 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade U19, and earning 3 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses in Croatia, making it a memorable tour.
In an interview after returning to Nigeria, Ogunlaja reflected on the trip’s benefits and the club’s goals ahead of the new NLO season.
“The European trip was a success. Such scouting activities inspire players’ ambitions by exposing them to various scouts and football facilitators.
“It also helps strengthen ties between African and European markets. The platform allowed Ojodu City to showcase its emerging talents and engage directly with club decision-makers.
“ Now that we’re back in Nigeria, we intend to use the experience we have gathered in the last month to showcase the European football model in the team, call the shots by taking our chances for a playoff spot.”
