The newly elected president of National Association of Yewa Students, Olabode Tayo, has called on traditional rulers, political leaders, stakeholders and notable individuals in Ogun West Senatorial District to unite and ensure the senatorial district produces the governor in 2027.
Olabode made the call in his inaugural speech, shortly after he was sworn in as the president of the student association, in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area, on Friday.
The election, which was observed by the Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State Axis, Adeyanju Francis, and the President of the National Association of the Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Kehinde Thomas, was also monitored by the operatives of the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Olabode will lead the other four executive members – senate president, Rufus Ajibiaran; Secretary, Oluwasola Jude; Public Relations Officer, Adedeji Monsuru; and Financial Secretary, Amosun Lydia; to pilot the affairs of the association for the next one year.
He noted that 2027 remains the best auspicious time for Ogun West to break the jinx of many decades. He urged the people to work together to actualise the long time aspiration of Yewaland.
He commended the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, for his exemplary leadership style and urged him to continue to rally the support of traditional rulers in the other two senatorial districts towards the 2027 project.
Olabode further appealed to all traditional rulers in Yewaland to be unrepentantly committed to uniting all political interests in the senatorial district ahead of the general elections in 2027.
