Ogun State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship candidacy of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing infrastructure development and support for businesses in the state.
The chapter’s President, Eze Stephen Okorie, announced the decision during a courtesy visit to Adeola over the weekend, saying the organisation would formally declare its support for the senator and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates at a ceremony scheduled for Abeokuta later this month.
Okorie, who led a five-member delegation to the meeting, disclosed that the group would confer the chieftaincy title of “Dike Eji Eje Mba” on Adeola during the ceremony.
He said the planned installation would also provide an opportunity for the organisation to publicly reaffirm its support for Tinubu and APC candidates in Ogun State.
According to him, five campaign billboards promoting Tinubu and Adeola have already been installed across the state, while additional campaign materials have been produced for the senator.
Okorie, who said he had lived in Owode-Yewa, Yewa South Local Government Area, for 36 years, attributed the endorsement to what he described as Adeola’s contributions to infrastructure and commercial development in Ogun State.
“We have been watching the politics and development in Ogun State,” he said.

“Based on the massive development that Senator Adeola has attracted to Ogun State in the last three years, particularly in the areas of market infrastructure and road construction to promote trade and commerce, the Igbos have no hesitation in endorsing the Senator for Governor of Ogun State.”
Responding, Adeola thanked the delegation for its support, recalling that members of the Igbo community in Lagos had also backed him during his political career.
He noted that the Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos had previously conferred on him the chieftaincy title of “Dike Di Ora Nma” of Lagos State in recognition of his relationship with the community.
Adeola said his political philosophy was anchored on inclusive governance and the provision of infrastructure and public services without discrimination.
“My brand of politics is politics of inclusion and delivery of good governance for all the people,” he said.
“When roads, schools, hospitals and other infrastructures are constructed, it is for the good of all, and all law abiding Nigerians are welcome to do business and make progress in Ogun State.”
Also present at the meeting were the APC deputy governorship candidate in Ogun State, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Kunle Salako; Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Laolu Olabimtan; APC senatorial candidate for Ogun West, Jimoh Ojugbele; and other party candidates.
