Ogun State born and Canada-based entrepreneur, Femi Ayeyemi, has called on the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to shift its focus to the reconstruction of local and community roads across the state in order to attract more investors to Ogun.

He made this call at the weekend, during the official inauguration of his N3b hotel facility, Felizia Hotel and Suites situated in Obada-Oko town, Ewekoro Local Government Area.

He decried the deplorable condition of the road leading to the site of the hotel, declaring that lack of good road networks could hinder and discourage investors despite Ogun being an investors’ hub.

Ayeyemi emphasised that good internal roads and security networks would attract more investors, especially the indigenes of the state in the diaspora to see Ogun as a one-stop investment hub, as envisioned by Governor Abiodun.

The entrepreneur who explained that he invested billions naira on the hotel project to contribute to the development of the hospitality and tourism sector of the state, disclosed that the disrepair situation of the roads has made him reluctant to invite other interested investors to the Obada-Oko town despite the availability of large expanse of land.

While saying that the hospitality facility was designed and built to the world standard in order to offer  a five-star service to patrons, Ayeyemi stressed that good road  infrastructure would encourage more private investments and accelerate economic development across the state.

Convener of The Alternative Movement, Segun Showunmi commended the entrepreneur for locating the multi-billion naira investment in the state.

He highlighted the economic benefits of the project and noted that it would create jobs, increase commercial activities and enhance economic development of the host community as well as the surrounding communities.

Showunmi urged Governor Abiodun to extend infrastructure support to locally owned investments, stressing that the government should not prioritize foreign investors at the expense of indigenous entrepreneurs.

He, however, promised that he would personally reach out and appeal to the governor to extend his administration’s road projects to Obada-Oko town.

“We cannot be supporting foreign investors with easy access to roads and good infrastructure while neglecting our own who have invested massively in our state.

“Femi has done a monarch-style hotel and event centre comparable to what they have in Lekki. Out of the joy in my spirit, because of the prayer that we pray that our people will love themselves enough to identify with themselves, Femi has not just identified with his place, this location is going on the map, the world is going to know about it, people will come and use it”, he stated.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Health, Dr. Ololade Kehinde, said the inauguration of the project has reinforced the position of Ogun as a state  that is safe, business-friendly, and ready to welcome investors from across the nation and beyond.

He hailed the investor for choosing to invest in the hospitality industry, noting that such investments are critical for economic growth.

“This is a laudable project and it’s a massive one, we will really want to encourage the promoter. And we want to encourage everyone that Ogun is ready for business, Ogun is willing to welcome people, and the atmosphere is friendly. One of the reasons why we are here is to show support to the nation and also to the people; they should know that they are secure,” Kehinde submitted.
