The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has paid tribute to a member of the Ogun State Hunters Association who was killed during a recent joint security operation, while calling for stronger collaboration between the police and local hunters to enhance security across the state.
The Commissioner made the call when he received members of the Ogun State Hunters Association at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, where he commended their contributions to the success of Operation Kosaye and urged them to sustain grassroots intelligence gathering and timely information sharing.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the delegation was led by the State President of the association, Muftau Alabi Oseni. Other members of the delegation included state chairman, Tajudeen Adele, Trustee Chief Bakare Ajayi Fatai, and other executives of the association.
Before addressing the gathering, CP Ojajuni led officers and members of the association in observing a minute’s silence in honour of the hunter who lost his life while participating in a recent joint operational exercise.
Speaking during the visit, the State Chairman of the association, Tajudeen Adele, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the warm reception and lauded the achievements recorded by the Command since he assumed office. He particularly praised the rollout and successes of Operation Kosaye, describing it as a major boost to security in Ogun State.
Adele also commended the police for involving members of the Hunters Association in security operations, assuring the Commissioner of the association’s unwavering commitment to supporting the police in protecting lives and property across the state.
Responding, CP Ojajuni thanked the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the critical role played by local hunters in the fight against crime, especially through their support for Operation Kosaye.
Describing their contributions as indispensable to the state’s security architecture, the police chief stressed the need for sustained collaboration, with greater emphasis on grassroots intelligence gathering and prompt information sharing.
He also reaffirmed his open-door policy, assuring the leadership of the association of his continued accessibility, support and commitment to strengthening the existing partnership in the collective effort to keep Ogun State safe.
