The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi, has promised to create an agency for the development of new towns across the state, if elected governor in 2027.

Adeola also promised that he would revitalise the Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency, the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ogun State Waste Management Agency, if he is given the mandate to govern the state.

He made this known at the weekend in Sagamu during an interactive session with Remo Collectives, a sociocultural group of upwardly mobile and accomplished Remo indigenes.

Addressing the session, which had in attendance the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the APC governorship flag-bearer further promised to create a Ministry of Wealth Creation under his 9-Pillars ITESIWAJU Agenda.

According to the senator, the New Towns Development Authority will be charged with developing new towns with all modern infrastructure while old towns and communities will be developed and preserved as historical legacies.

He explained that the Ministry of Wealth Creation will focus on continuing his empowerment programme for job creation where youths and women will be trained in different skills and subsequently empowered as one of his job creation initiatives.

While responding to requests for the uplifting of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, Senator Adeola promised to work in conjunction with Governor Dapo Abiodun to uplift the state’s flagship health tertiary institution before December, stressing that inclusive health and wellbeing is a critical part of his ITESIWAJU Agenda.

“As we speak, I am facilitating a 4-storey hospital building to be fully equipped at Remo General Hospital and it is at the roofing level now with completion set for December. Similarly, 14 similar projects are ongoing across the state,” he stated.

He, however, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for embarking on reforms that are yielding results as acknowledged by renowned international bodies with the foremost international bank, JP Morgan, now set to open in Nigeria.

He added that the president has taken care of macroeconomic challenges with the micro benefits for the people trickling down in the nearest future.

The APC flag-bearer also commended Governor Abiodun for laying solid economic foundations upon which he is going to build his own administration.

“The governor has laid a solid economic foundation for the state in such legacy projects as the International Cargo Airport, the dry inland ports in Ijebu and Egba lands and the coming $7 billion deep seaport. The foundation places Ogun State in a position to compete favourably with Lagos State in terms of revenue generation for economic expansion and growth,” he stated.

He informed the gathering that he had facilitated over 36 infrastructure projects including road, education, solar street lights, rural electrification, modern markets, ICT Centre and primary health care centres across Remoland.

Earlier in his remarks, Oba Ajayi requested that the APC governorship candidate should steer clear of the state creation issue but focus on the creation of the new local government or Local Development Areas for Remo, proposing that Sagamu can be divided into three or four LGAs.

He commended Senator Adeola for attracting development to Remoland, including the construction of the road leading to his palace and other infrastructure projects.

In his welcome address, Mr Akintayo Rabiu, the president of the Remo Collectives, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Olumide Onimole, stated that the group invited the senator to interact with them on his plans for Ogun State in general and Remoland in particular.

Other dignitaries at the interactive session include Oba Adewale Oshiberu, the Elepe of Epe; Otunba Kola Oyefeso; Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka, APC House of Representatives candidate for Imeko Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency; Laolu Olabimtan, Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Yemi Adelani, Ogun State APC organising secretary; Deji Ashiru, Managing Director of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority; and Daisi Akintan, former chairman of Sagamu LG.
