Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, said over the weekend he is targeting nothing less than 60,000 votes from his hometown of Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa Local Government Area, in the 2027 poll.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, who stated this at a rally organised by a group, ‘Ilaro Parapo for Yayi’, with the theme “Unity, Development and Political Future of Ilaro District”, said the ancient town, which is the administrative headquarters of Ogun West Senatorial District, is becoming a “small London” in fulfilment of the promise he made at the inception of his senatorial mandate.
Speaking further at the event attended by thousands of natives of Ilaro, Senator Adeola explained that the infrastructural development he has facilitated to the town in terms of roads, healthcare, education, security, electricity, among others, has radically changed the outlook of the town.
“I made a promise to turn Ilaro and environs into a small London and I have worked seriously towards it in the areas of infrastructural development that I facilitated to the town. I also facilitated the making of Ilaro into a university town through the enactment of the law that upgraded the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro,” he stated.
The APC governorship candidate told the people that voting for him and other APC candidates is a vote for themselves and future development, stressing that he expects more than 60,000 votes from the people of Ilaro.

Earlier in his welcome address, Omooba Segun Adewale, otherwise known as OOSA, reaffirmed that Senator Adeola is 100 per cent from Ilaro and the residents of the town are poised to deliver 100 per cent of the votes of the 80,000 registered voters that have collected their PVCs.
He noted that people have been sensitised to massively vote for Adeola to appreciate his quality representation at the National Assembly as well as the struggle to end 50 years of injustice against Ogun West senatorial district not being able to produce governor of the state.
“Voting for Senator Adeola is not only for projects and development in Ilaro and Ogun West, but for all Ogun State as he has extended his good work to two other senatorial districts in the state,” Adewale stressed.
The highlight of the event was the delivery of papers by Professors Tope Popoola, Taiwo Edun and Dr Mukhail Akinde, who respectively called for unity and massive votes for Senator Adeola.
Other dignitaries at the event were Dr Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare; APC chieftain, Chief Muftau Ajibola; Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lateefat Ajayi; Chief Tommy Akintomide; Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Apampa; and the APC Ogun West senatorial candidate, Jimoh Ojugbele, among others.
