- Wants Nigeria to enhance foreign exchange earning through tourism

The Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lukman Adeleye, at the weekend, instituted a personal cash prize to promote the culture and traditional heritage of the Ijebu people in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.
Adeleye, who made this known at the annual Odogbolu Day, said that Nigeria as a nation with diverse culture and traditions must promote her people’s rich heritage to enhance foreign exchange earning capacity.
The lawmaker, who observed that the nation is blessed culturally and historically emphasised that “we must do everything not to lose our cultural identity”, adding ‘our nation is blessed with rich heritage which must be tapped into, and used to attract tourists into the country’.
“Look at the way everyone is colourfully dressed; look at the joy in our faces; look at the happiness even at a time like this when things are hard in the country. This shows we are a people with identity, traditions, behavioural patterns, and cultural values which we must explore to attract people into our country,” Adeleye added.
He urged the private sector to invest and repackage various traditional festivities and promote the nation’s culture to serve as a great foreign exchange earner.
The Minority Leader, however, commended the people of Odogbolu town for the successful hosting of the 2023 edition of annual Odogbolu Day, promising that he will continue to offer qualitative representation at House of Assembly.
