Nigeria defender Igho Ogbu has been ruled out of the Super Eagles’ international friendly against Portugal after sustaining an injury during training on Saturday evening.
According to the team’s medical staff, the defender is suspected to have suffered a rupture of his left Achilles tendon, an injury that will require further assessment to determine its full extent.
Ogbu’s absence comes as a setback for the Super Eagles ahead of their highly anticipated clash against Portugal, which is scheduled to take place on June 10 in Lisbon.

The defender had been part of Nigeria’s preparations for the encounter, but the injury has now ended his involvement in the fixture as the team continues its build-up to face the World Cup-bound Portuguese side.
